Paradises: Telling stories with Art- Hundertwasser
I love exploring different ways of #storytelling and #art is a form that I’m really fascinated by.
Therefore, I enjoy immersing myself in #galleries and #museums and occasionally bring back collaterals to study them more. Most collaterals didn’t get to keep during my moves, so it’s serendipity for me to find this magazine about Friedensreich Hundertwasser.?
When I first saw his artwork, I was attracted by the flow of color and felt a connection to this Austrian artist. However, I didn’t figure out what the connection was about at that moment. After reading through his bio, I realized it’s our shared deep appreciation of nature and a vision of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Hundertwasser put it beautifully “Paradises can only be made by we ourselves, with our own creativity, in harmony with the free creativity of nature”. I was amazed.
Hundertwasser told his ahead-of-time ecological views through art, addressing environmental issues that we are still facing today. While these can be tough topics when put in words, he was able to use art to create a soft ground for his ideas to land. He intrigued the viewers, challenged the viewers, and invited viewers to engage their own imagination to enter into this co-creation of the ideal world with him. That’s the power of art: it tells the stories in an expressive and open way.
Hundertwasser’s work pays tribute to the beauty of nature with the beauty of art. That reminds me of our shared humanity-- the appreciation of beauty. That ends the story I want to tell today—we are different but we have a lot more in common; we are all connected, everything and everyone.
