In the depths of a vast jungle lived a powerful lion named Leo, respected as the king of all animals. Yet, despite his strength, Leo harbored a secret fear—he dreaded thunderstorms. Each time the sky darkened, Leo would hide, ashamed that a mighty lion like himself trembled at thunder.
In the same jungle lived a little bird named Pip, who had his own fear: heights. While other birds soared above the treetops, Pip stayed grounded, wishing he could fly but held back by his fear.
One day, a fierce storm gathered. Pip’s nest was blown to the top of the tallest tree, and as the thunder crashed, both Pip and Leo felt the weight of their fears. Pip stared up, longing to retrieve his nest, while Leo stood frozen by his instinct to hide. Yet, as Leo saw Pip’s helplessness, he felt something stir within him. He couldn’t let fear hold him back—not when someone needed his help.
Encouraging Pip to try, Leo stayed by his side, and with a deep breath, Pip spread his wings. Although his fear was overwhelming, Leo’s presence below gave him the strength to try. Slowly, Pip flew higher and higher, trembling but determined. And below, Leo faced his own fear, roaring defiantly at the thunder, refusing to retreat.
Finally, Pip reached his nest and safely returned to the ground, filled with pride. “I couldn’t have done it without you,” Pip said, breathless. Leo nodded, realizing that Pip had also given him courage to stay.
From that day on, Pip flew higher each day, no longer letting fear control him. Leo, too, faced each storm head-on, having learned that courage isn’t the absence of fear but the strength to act despite it.
