Papua LNG FID put back

In a joint statement with the Papua New Guinea Government, Papua LNG operator, TotalEnergies said that following the receipt of the first EPC offers, the partners will need to keep working with contractors to obtain commercially viable contracts and more work was required to reach FID, which has been put back to next year.

As a result, the project partners will review the structure of some packages and open up the project to a larger panel of Asian contractors.

At a meeting, James Marape, the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, and Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies discussed the project’s status.

They agreed that this delay will not affect the early work planned in Papua New Guinea this year and that the project will maintain its full support for the Gulf Province local population.

Moreover, Pouyanné announced that TotalEnergies intended to drill the first deepwater exploration well on the PPL 576 license in 2025.

He also reaffirmed to the Prime Minister that TotalEnergies, the project’s operator and its partners, 埃克森美孚 , Santos Ltd and ENEOS Xplora Malaysia Limited , are fully committed to Papua LNG.

In particular, he said that there was several LNG buyers expressing high interest for off-taking LNG from the project, due to its strategic location close to key Asian markets.?
