A paper pointing to a complementary approach to sustainable supply chains
Very happy to have a reflective paper published open access in Business Strategy and the Environement: "Inside the world of stepsiblings: Linking global production networks to sustainable supply chain management".
Global production networks are an established stream of research, sometimes mentioned on the supply chain side, but so far not conceptually linked to each other. Here is a part of the abstract: Five central GPN constructs are identified: (1) the emerging supply chain structures and sustainability; (2) the importance and relevance of embeddedness and governance; (3) power dynamics; (4) the stakeholder approach; (5) the sustainability dimensions and the implementation strategies. They are explained in detail and then contrasted with how the related topics are dealt within SSCM.
Thanks to Sadaat Ali Yawar for driving the paper forward.
