Pangani women- One Voice against Stereotypes

During the days leading up to 2022 International Women’s Day UZIKWASA joined hands with Pangani stakeholders in a series of events to celebrate the achievements of our women.

On 28th February several District Council representatives launched the commemorations at Pangani FM radio by clicking the play button for a new song to mobilize the whole district to join the celebrations. ??A special song titled ‘Wanawake Sauti Moja’ (Women speak with one voice) was played on the radio.

It was to bring women together for a common purpose to support each other despite their differences as they contest for various posts during elections. This was meant to dispel the common stereotype that women do not support each other. Believe it or not: They do!!!??

In this spirit UZIKWASA held a mentorship workshop for 40 women in Kwakibuyu village aiming at further strengthening their leadership skills, reflecting on their capacity needs, and building a strategic movement towards raising the number of women running for political office. The aim was that at least four councilors among the 14 in Pangani should be women.
