Pandemic Accelerating Our Way of Life

Yesterday, I read an article in this week's The Economist, that illustrates how the pandemic has accelerated the use of technology.

Here are a few interesting facts from the article:

• Bain, (the consultancy firm) estimates that American firms will now invest $10trn in automation over the next decade 
• It’s predicted that by the end of 2021 the worldwide installation of factory robots will exceed 3.2 million, double that in 2015
• Global sales of process automation products is estimated to rise from $1.6bn in 2019 to nearly $20bn in 2027

Why am I sharing this?

COVID-19 has accelerated the pace at which these changes were already happening.

Just like remote working, automation, and many other changes we’ve seen, have all been accelerated during the pandemic.

Data shows that a number of firms have thrived globally who have been able to implement and invest heavily in automation.

You could argue that well, most of these are robotics and replace ‘hands’ in organisations such as factory lines. And mostly, that is true.

Many of us over the last decade have been paid in the marketplace to ‘think’.

But AI also thinks. And continues to think in an exponential way.

What makes us humans different?

Our ability to think consciously.

We are conscious beings. We have this infinite creative potential and energy within us that an automated robot does not have.

I believe this is where we must now focus our attention for the next 10, 20, 30 years and beyond.

This is how we are going to continue to thrive.

This is how the world will become a better place.

If this pandemic is accelerating the implementation of automation.

It can also accelerate the awakening of humankind.

An awakening that empowers us to lead from within and rise in the level of consciousness in the way we live, work, and run our businesses.

This is what will allow leaders and businesses and most of the working population to thrive in the next era.

An era of a rise in global consciousness.
