The Panasonic Trust Future Engineer Awards
It was my great privilege to present Panasonic Toughbook’s to the first 10 Panasonic Trust Future Engineers Awardees at Merthyr College.
The Panasonic Trust for the Further Education and Training of Engineers (Panasonic Trust) is a ‘charitable’ collaboration between Panasonic and the Royal Academy of Engineering.
The objective of the Panasonic Trust is to inspire and encourage more young people to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects in post-16 education.
The Panasonic Trust Future Engineer Award is open to those in Merthyr and Blaenau Gwent who aspire to undertake Engineering or A levels aligned to Engineering at Merthyr College and / or Coleg Gwent
The Panasonic Trust awards twenty bursaries per year. Each bursary is for two years, financially supporting the awardees with ￡1k per student per year and a loan of a Panasonic ToughBook for that period.
As part of their development, the awardees will also act as technology mentors for the Welsh Valleys Engineering Project (WVEP) for a range of projects within the thirteen schools in Blaenau Gwent and Merthyr Tydfil.
The WVEP is a five-year initiative from the Royal Academy of Engineering with funding from The Panasonic Trust.
