Palumbo Named Director of Strategic Programming

Katherine (Katie) Palumbo was named director of strategic programming for Great Lakes Integrated Network IPA (GLIN IPA).

In June 2022, Palumbo made the transition from General Physician, PC (GPPC) to become a post-acute practice manager. Soon after, she was promoted to the associate director of post-acute at GLIN IPA. In this role, she played a crucial part in working with care navigation and Post-Acute facility practices within the GLIN IPA network. Palumbo focused on providing excellent service, supervised staff, managed policies, and supported clinical and administrative functions. She also worked closely with leadership to identify opportunities and develop the Care Navigation Programs.

In August 2023, Palumbo was promoted to associate director of strategic programming, where she played a key role in GLIN IPA's success by ensuring full compliance with ACO REACH program requirements. She provided valuable input to establish a centralized screening service line and collaborated with health system IT leads to integrate EHR solutions for patient identification. Palumbo also led meetings with payer and health system executives to strategize, execute, and oversee key initiatives.

In her new director role, Palumbo will represent GLIN IPA in leadership meetings with payers and health systems, driving strategic initiatives to bolster quality, cost-effectiveness, and access within the clinically integrated network. Leveraging her robust project management skills, she will spearhead efforts to enhance healthcare experiences network-wide, collaborating closely with third-party payers and community health systems to craft effective programs for patient identification, engagement, and technology adoption. Palumbo will orchestrate interdisciplinary collaboration and deliver stakeholders with comprehensive reports to facilitate well-informed decision-making processes

Throughout her career, Palumbo has excelled in various positions, highlighting her expertise in post-acute care, case management, discharge planning, and standards of insurance benefits. She previously worked for GPPC and held roles such as admissions screener at The McGuire Group, director of social work at Comprehensive Healthcare, and subacute discharge planner at Elderwood.

A native of Buffalo, Palumbo received her bachelor’s degree at the University at Buffalo and her master’s degree in Health Administration at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY. Currently, she is pursuing her PMP certification in Cornell's Project Leadership and Project Management Program
