PALs, Check in.
Checking in means going and checking in, calling, talking, sending a card, or visiting the dorm room of someone that you have not seen or heard from for some time.
This is a very common thing in friendships, where people check in, they ask how you are.
Here are some guidelines on how to check in with others:
If someone is having a hard time, check in. Send a text or knock on the dorm room if you're part of the dormitory, just to check in on them.
Do not send your own worry on to the person. Always be positive and check in only when you are in a good mood and have time to chat.
Say to them: “Hello, just haven't seen you around for a bit. How are you managing life in the exam, the school, or your new role? I'm finding it tough myself, so I wondered how you were doing.”
If the person is not responding back and you are worried or not sure what to do next, refer to the student affairs office, your peer support program or a teacher advisor.
