Paloma

Welcome back, or if it’s your first time here, take a seat, and I’ll fix you a drink.

Today, we are going to look at a Paloma; it’s like a sister to a Margarita but unique in its own right, a little longer and very refreshing,

Let's start with some ingredients:

  • 2 oz Tequila Reposado
  • 2 oz Fresh grapefruit juice
  • 2 oz Soda water
  • ? oz Lime juice
  • ? oz agave nectar
  • Salt for the rim and some extra grapefruit for decoration

What Glass should I use,…

  • A Highball glass or a Rocks glass

What hardware do I need?

  • Spoon
  • Juicer
  • Peeler
  • Knife

Directions - Let's do this; let's make a drink!

Prep the garnish first

Start by salting the rim of the glass or salting half of the rim.

Yet this is also optional. - you don’t have to.

Peel all the way around the grapefruit and take a long, thin piece - use a knife to straighten the sides. Twist this into a spiral and place it in a glass of ice water.

Throw some ice into the glass; I’d suggest crushed ice.

Pour the Tequila, Grapefruit, and Lime juice in.

Mix it all around with the spoon and then top it with soda water.

If you didn’t salt the rim, throw a pinch of salt in at this point.

Use a spoon to gently mix everything in.

Garnish with the twist we made earlier or any other decoration you fancy using some grapefruit.

Enjoy

Tips

Grapefruit soda is available that can be swapped in to replace the combined amounts of Grapefruit juice and Soda Water.

Citrus fruit can vary in sweetness. If the grapefruit juice is too tart, add a bit of agave nectar or simple syrup to sweeten it up if desired.

Boxed grapefruit juice is not really great here - unless it is ‘fresh’ with no added sugars and preservatives etc.

I'd strongly recommend owning a soda stream to make soda water on command.

If you want to make a lot of drinks - a cheap electric juicer machine is an awesome investment.
