Painting with my eyes closed.
Lately I've been painting with my eyes closed. Not all the time. Only when I start seeing something appear in the painting. Let me explain. When I'm painting, the less I think about the outcome of the piece, the better the painting turns out. If I find myself starting to plan and plot the outcome of the painting, or I see something appear in the piece, I know I must let my mind go and just go with the flow. Closing my eyes intermittently while I paint, helps me make the switch and trust that every smear of paint will end up exactly where it's supposed to. It's not always up to the eyes. For me, it's a feeling. An energy.
