'Pain pushes until the vision pulls'

'Pain pushes until the vision pulls' is a statement made by Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith.
Taken aback, I instinctively blocked all distractions when I heard this in an attempt to hang onto this insight ... forever.

This is deep ... so, we'll just start and see how far we get for now ...
Pain is a motivator. It's produced in the brain whether it's of physical or emotional origin. Both stimulating the release of inflammatory hormones.
Pain is an inflammatory reaction. Making it a mechanism of protection, initiated by the immune system, pushing you to do what it takes to remain safe and away from any additional harm.
the brain + the gut + the immune system = the team
with 70-80% of immune cells being present in the gut, there is an intricate interplay between the intestinal microbiota, the intestinal epithelial layer, and the local mucosal immune system.
‘the bidirectional communication between the brain and the gastrointestinal tract, the so-called “brain–gut axis,” is based on a complex system, including the vagus nerve, but also sympathetic (e.g., via the prevertebral ganglia), endocrine, immune, and humoral links (body fluids and antibodies) as well as the influence of gut microbiota in order to regulate gastrointestinal homeostasis and to connect emotional and cognitive areas of the brain with gut functions’ (Vagus Nerve as Modulator of the Brain-Gut Axis )
Because of the nature of the genome, your system is consistently scanning for threats. The second a potential irritant is detected, adjustments are made to protect you from harm. This goes for virus, bacteria, danger, or environmental chemicals. Each one informs the genome to become armed and ready.
Say 'hello' to your defense mechanism also known as your instinct. It's how you, me and all of nature survives!
Did you know that this is the reason we even have essential oils? They are the plant's inflammatory reaction to stressors also known as threats!
While this natural reaction makes sense in humans following microbial exposure or any type of traumatic event, on a collective scale, the brain and body are routinely being pushed to take shelter more than realized or discussed. The popular and almost viral conversation centers on health issues.
Degenerative illnesses are on the rise as are neurodegenerative health issues. Children are not excluded from the statistics as many are born with inflammatory conditions.
"Having an allergic reaction is the most common example of an overactive immune system. Dust, mold, pollen, and foods are examples of allergens.
Some conditions caused by an overactive immune system are:
The evidence grows. Your system, like everyone else's is reacting to the environment. In my professional opinion, humans are experiencing an allergic reaction to the environment and life's experiences at an alarming rate.
Other people's suffering triggers your brain to keep you safe ... without you realizing it!
The purpose for referring to it this way is to introduce an alternate point of view that alleviates the need to blame and judge. The pain is real and finding fault does nothing but add to what's already being experienced. Without realizing it, humans are triggering themselves ... fixated on what's wrong ... and ... rigid about their reservations.
This is not a judgment. It's an observation. For the most part, people are stuck in their pain because the predominant focus of conversations whether in the news, online or face to face is on the problem of both physical and emotional pain.
We're creating sympathy ... not clarity.
There are experts addressing pain all the time. Just look at the countless videos on YouTube and other platforms, yet not one of them discusses why this is a growing societal problem. They simply present a topic that unites an audience. They relate to what's being said, no longer feel alone and appreciate the fact that their issues are recognized. This sense of peace is unquestionably valuable.
Honestly, the reason so many are afflicted by pain is not a big secret. I mean, if I can uncover this valuable information...
On the other hand, the solution doesn't come in a one-size-fits all form ... which may feel daunting to some. Plus, knowing you're not alone somehow makes it easier. Yet, the need to belong, or said another way, worried that you don't belong, is a deeply seated pain point that deserves further attention beyond sympathy or empathy.
To alleviate the pain of belonging, society, as a whole, is being pacified (my apologies if this is offensive and it's not meant to be nor is it a fault ... it's a conditioned default) by the mainstream distractors making their way into your life such as medication, social media, AI, technology and so on.
The illusion of relief is experienced when others get us ... commiseration. Or someone in the virtual world says something that hits like a 'YES. They get it!' in your gut. Or you engage in an activity that takes your mind off the pain. (the portal ... more on this in another post)
You may be wondering how any of this is a problem. And the truth is there's nothing wrong with any of it. However, suffering is not a way to go through life. I know better is achievable!
The first step to accomplishing better is by understanding the full scope of threats and how they consistently impact the production of inflammation.
I recently hosted a discussion on the stories passed down through the generations ... much like the game of telephone. Sometimes the stories were and are made up as a way of influencing thoughts and behaviors. Other times, they were and are shared out of fear and a desire to protect. Nevertheless, the stories change along the way due to personal interpretations.
A great example comes from ancient Greece where man believed in the concept of “vis medicatrix naturae,” which means “the healing power of nature” This idea suggests that the body has an innate ability to heal itself, and that physicians should focus on supporting this natural healing process rather than intervening with drugs or surgery. Today, this theory is supported by scientific research that reveals the body has a remarkable capacity for self-healing. For example, cells in the body can regenerate and replace the ones that are damaged or destroyed. The body also has natural self-repair mechanisms that can fight infectious agents, repair broken proteins, keep coronary arteries open, and naturally slow the aging process.

Despite the fact that scientists continually confirm these ancient theories, today's world is told that the human body is weak and defective ... sometimes the word 'mutated' is thrown in as is the case with epigenetic testing. In those instances, the acronym SNP (pronounced snip and stands for single nucleotide polymorphism) is included for added flare.
This does nothing but generate fear and lock the brain into protection mode. Combine this with other stressors as mentioned previously and your system is activated and ready to defend.
Take a moment to conjure an image of a soldier, prepared to go to battle. Or an armed guard.
They're tense and rigid. NO sign of feeling relaxed.
This is exactly what's happening in your brain and body. The chemistry produced is due to tension. Tension equals tightness. Overtime, depending on how the stress reaction affects your system, you begin to feel it in your neck and shoulders; maybe your lower back ...or ....
I feel it in my gut which turns into sluggish bowels and eventually constipation. This was the case for me as a younger person ... I've helped myself move past that ... literally and figuratively.
Regardless, the longer the distress, the more 'pain relief' a person seeks because no one wants to feel uncomfortable. And I certainly cannot blame anyone. I've been there and could slip back into it if I didn't make essential oils a part of my daily routine.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a big topic and writing about it has introduced a book idea ...
I'll continue to share here and will finish this one with just a bit more.
Lock, tension, sluggish, constipation ... add the idea of fix, fixated, fixing to this list. In each one, there is very little, if any, movement.
The nature of Nature is organic movement; not static. It's the reason you here the suggestion, 'go with the flow'. However, it seems as if the heartfelt recommendation of being fluid is misinterpreted.
To be fluid means you must give yourself permission to move between standing firm and protecting yourself or people and things that matter or allowing yourself to mindfully ease through a moment.
Fear, protection, standing firm and even wanting to fix a problem are natural instincts. Instinct is why you're here. Someone in your ancestral line did what was necessary to survive.
Wanting pain relief makes perfect sense.
AND pain is directly proportional to the resistance you feel when it comes to change.
Inflammation is a form of energy as are your emotions. How you wield your emotional energy influences the type of hormones produced ... pro-inflammatory OR anti-inflammatory.
While there are circumstances that warrant the production of pro-inflammatory hormones, you have the ability to help your brain know when to slow this down.
An important note is that your brain is unique to you. As is your epigenome. A significant change to the human immune system occurred in the mid-14th century that swayed the course of human health.
Many things have changed since then from the way your brain processes information to technology.
The result: substantial alterations to the epigenome affecting the way every human relates to themselves and others.
As animals, our system senses its surroundings (which includes every factor in the immediate environment). This begins at conception and is your entire experience until sometime between 6 and 7, after which, you develop critical thinking skills.
Instinct is your sensory mode. Critical thinking incorporates attention, awareness and the ability to reason.
Pain will push you to protect.
As a single mom, there was no child support. I did what I needed to do to protect my kids. I sacrificed my needs. I lived within my means (read that as limited and restricted pleasure). I pushed myself to be everything for them because of the stories I believed. My health started to suffer and eventually my finances.
After living for decades with symptoms of one kind or another ... anxiety, insomnia, night terrors, IBS, migraines, PMS, PCOS, neuropathy, fatigue ... I dealt with each pain as recommended and pressed on. It was the cancer that forced change.
One big adjustment was to the way I was using essential oils. Many people find their way out of pain by other means. Mine was oils. They were brought into my life for a reason ... so I went back to square one and began reintroducing them based on the way they affected my sense of self.
One thing led to another, and 16 years later, I have not only identified their unique properties, but Divined a way of personalizing and integrating essential oils that work with both symptoms and the whole system.
Through my journey, I started to see other changes I could make. I never realized how rigid I had become with the way I was conducting life and justifying the subsequent actions. Everything I did felt right. I was doing life according to what I knew BUT the outcomes were inconsistent ... from relationships to business. I was growing weary, thinking there was something wrong with me.
Although it was a step at a time, I began noticing my instinctual default patterns. Then one day I said, out loud, same soup, different bowl. I was the soup ... the common factor in the equation of my life. This insight alone was a game changer. That's when the vision for something better began to pull me forward.
Yes, I credit essential oils for this. No, I wasn't taking medications. Although my background is in pharmacology, something in me knew they would sustain the push rather than activate the pull.
This is possible for you. Are you ready to move forward?
