The Pain of Grief!

My favourite nephew David Boy @Vinesh Varma passed away on 19 January 2023 at the age of 27; he was admitted to hospital on 2 Jan 2023 for food poisoning and died due to acute liver failure. It was shocking and devastating for everyone as he was a loving, kind and responsible person. He shares the same birthday as I do and my son is very close to David Boy. We take him on holidays with us and he has sleepovers every now and then. I loved him like he was my own son.

This is the 1st time I am experiencing grief that makes my heart so heavy; I am so angry and sad that in my mind I am throwing glass bottles against the wall and smashing glass plates on the floor. Damn it, it hurts like crazy! I can't accept that he is gone and the pain is just too much to bear. I don't want to hear people telling me that he's at a better place; I know that and I believe that. I want to hear people tell me to cry, shout and let it all out cause the pain of losing someone you love so much is just unimaginable and beyond words. I am dealing with my grief by sharing and remembering beautiful memories of David Boy; speaking and hanging out with my BFF, crying occasionally in private or when I speak of him and praying for his soul to rest in peace.

The pain of grief can be overwhelming, it can affect your physical health; making it difficult to sleep or eat and even think straight. So the next time, an employee of yours is slacking on their performance or taking days off frequently check to see if they are grieving their loved ones like my former staff. He lost his grandfather who took care of him when both his parents passed away at a young age and he didn't get the support and grief counselling he needed and it affected his performance at work. I suggested he connected with Befrienders and he got the professional help he needed while working on his performance which improved in a few months. If you are grieving the loss of a loved one - reach out to family and friends for support, cry and don't keep your feelings pent up inside, speak to a grief counsellor if the pain is just too much to bear. #griefsupport

Thank you for reminding us that we all have a life and then a work. We know alot about whats going on at work but we know very little about the lives of our people!
