I’m a K-8 STEM teacher at a Saint Raphael school in Hamilton, NJ. I’ve been advising an ed-tech company called Qweebi. They're developing a virtual makerspace platform to enable kids to build hands-on projects but in a purely virtual 3D world. Kids can build projects like solar-powered cars, moon rovers, truss bridges, etc. all using a huge range of ‘virtual’ supplies like gears, wheels, motors, batteries, and more.
I think the coolest thing for me is that kids can build just like in the real world! Cutting, gluing, soldering - but without any of the mess or the safety hazards. With so many virtual supplies and a slick digital interface, I have no doubt that kids will end up creating really wacky solutions.
This summer Qweebi looking to pilot a 5-day virtual STEM challenge with kids. They're partnering with STEM teachers all over the country to run the challenge in their STEM camps. It's a paid opportunity.
