Some form of Social Media is used by just about everyone with a smartphone in today’s technology landscape. We are hooked to social media because of its strong algorithm and ability to show each individual exactly what they want. As a young adult who is active on social media of many different forms and grew up using it, my algorithm knows exactly what I like. According to my screen time reports on my iPhone, I spend an hour on Instagram alone daily. This is why Social Media is such a crucial platform for all businesses to market on, as it is so widely used. With the right targeting and content, you can create a meaningful connection to your target audience. Social Media viewers judge a brand based on the content they put out, it's that simple. Content is a reflection of the brand, or at least that's how social media users see it. Every once in a while, there is an Instagram reel ad that catches and holds my attention because of its creativity and quality characteristics. It isn’t overly edited, it seems genuine, and it keeps me interested. This makes me think positively about that brand and what they have to offer, as they care about their representation. On the other hand, countless ads are thrown together with stock images and AI text-to-speech voice overlaid, which is overwhelming and downright annoying. I skip these ads after the first half second. I judge the brand as being cheap and fake, just like the ad. If you’re a brand that doesn’t have the bandwidth to make creative, unique advertising on social media, it might be worth hiring an influencer.?

Influencer Marketing is when a brand hires an influencer to make content for the brand. Influencers are professional social media moguls, usually popular for a certain attribute or skill, who create content for social media. Influencers can range from dancers to cooks to business people to frisbee golfers and so on. There doesn’t seem to be an industry untapped by social media influencers of some sort. Influencers are professionals at creating high-quality content for their audiences. Because of this, they can create advertising for your product that fits your users well, especially if the influencer’s target audience matches your own. Instead of risking a low-quality ad on a budget, you might be better off giving that budget to an influencer who is a professional.
