Zulnun's vision by #Rumi
Zulnun is one of the most prominent saints of early #Islamic tradition, appearing in the earliest accounts of #Sufism as the leading figure of his generation. Zulnun has a vision about the day of judgement. He sees all #human being is collected in front of God.
Then they hear the voice of #God is coming gently offering a series of gifts.
The first time the voice of God says; who among you would like to receive the sum total of all world lead #pleasures? Every delight, every joy every pleasure that I've ever created in this world? Who would like that?
Zolnoon says I saw 90% of people put up their hand. And the voice of God comes to them, it is #granted on to you. They go like, no catch? No catch. So, they're just happy and leave.
Voice of God comes to them the second time. Who here would like to be #free from all suffering, no pain, no torment, no punishment. They go like, no catch? No catch.
The second time, it is granted on to you.
Now there is a very small crowd left.
The third time, who among you wishes from my #loftiest and #luminous #paradise?
So, 90% of those who left put up their hands.
The third time, it is granted on to you.
The Zolnoon says there are only a few people left. And this time they hear the voice of God, thundering at them, I offered you every earthly delight, you chose it not, I offered you freedom from pain, suffering and punishment, you chose it not. I even gave you unconditionally my most luminous #garden, you chose it not. What are you looking for?
Zolnoon says, The few people who left, they can't even offer an answer, lower their head down and said. We didn't come for the garden, we didn't come to avoid punishment, and we didn't come for pleasure, we came for you.
One last time they hear the voice of God, then, in that case, I am yours.
That was always been a tradition, within the larger world of Islamic #spirituality. Where it doesn't articulate itself as this is what you do to be safe, this is what you got to do to get to heaven, this is what you got to do to avoid punishment. What you are seeking is the #divine beloved.
A beautiful verse of the Quran - "In their #stories is a lesson for those who possess intelligence. This is not a fabricated tale, but a #confirmation of what came before it, and a detailed explanation of all things, and guidance, and #mercy for people who believe." - 12-111

3 年It somehow matches the definition given by Imam Ali over worshippers, he all the blessings and peace be upon him categorizes them into three groups: He calls one group as traders, these people exchange their prayers with heaven, there are some others also who worship God to avoid hell fire and the last ones are the people who purely worship God not for greed of heaven nor fear of hell fire but because God's worthy to be worshipped.
