Padmavati- The Film

Padmavati- The Film

Padmavati - My Take:- Inspiring, epic scale powerful pageantry and kaleidoscopic screenplay of dramatic proportions-

#SanjayLeelaBhansali’s #magnumopus #Padmavat brings us to a lyrical royal india of the #13thCentury with a #passion & #grandeur that one expects from him. The #palaces#forts#war #camp#costumes#dances , #lighting#music#screenplay transports you to another world as did the jungle where #DipikaPadukone as ‘the’ Padmavati meets #RavalRattanSingh. #War depictions and #costumes are extraordinary but what steals the show is #RanveerSingh’s rendition of an unscrupulous bestial ruthless #AlauddinKhilji

Especially that savage fierce abandon of his barbaric dance with hair flying menacingly and the inexorable expression in ruthless glacial eyes.

The one thing I kept looking out for was something objectionable in the movie to offend the pride and propriety of the #Rajput’s which I felt must be the cause for the #KarniSena to be ranting & raving even now after cuts and edits by the director?

After the #SupremeCourt has snubbed them yet again saying the movie will not be banned and the decision must be respected ?

I’m sure #Bhansali changed many scenes to accommodate this Senas oversensitive hysteria so that they wouldn’t threaten little children going to school because of some misguided hurt ‘pride’! They should definitely shut-up and shut down. Where was their ‘hurt pride’ when #India witnessed the worst rape episode and killed the battling #NIRBHAYA? Where was this #honor and #protective streak? A Valorous Sena would do well to rise and speak up and demand justice at that time I think?

Or the little Dalit girl was gang raped weeks before the release of this movie in Haryana state?

Have they done anything about the safety, education and development of women in their developing state of Rajasthan? What according to them (I am wondering) is still unobjectionable content in this film? Yes I know some primitive, uncivilised leaders are still crying hoarse about inaccuracy to ‘history’. What extent would a person go to gain their ten minutes of media fame?

I’ve been fencing trolls on #socialmedia and also vociferously lambasting ill-informed members of this ‘Sena’ on #NewsDebates that this is not a #historic #documentary but a #magnumopus that should be taken as a story and an #interpretation of an #artist. Are there not bigger mightier issues to combat in this country- greater causes like compulsory education? Clean drinking water for all? Safe transport for working women in Metro’s and even villages -since we keep speaking about equal opportunity for career women? In a complex nation like ours why don’t the karni Sena take up some issues that are really troubling us women in 21st century india?? Protests against a story in a film reaches #SupremeCourt in a month and judgement is given but crimes against women and children take years to reach any court. And we talk about culture and progress.

Why nitpick a Bollywood film and try to keep attacking it - why cannot it be seen like a beautiful ballad of the times- recounting the story of a princess / queen who in the context of the age that she lived in Had committed Jauhar rather than be raped because that IS a historic fact?! How far would people go to attack a story made in a period when things did happen? We’ve come a long way and it’s a different world now - we watch the movie with wonder and as we would an episode in any epic story? Are you saying the ‘Game Of Thrones’ with all its pillage rape and murder is leading to riots in the country of its origin?
