Packing up for Road Atlanta

Packing up for Road Atlanta

????????? It's race weekend! ?????????

The nerves are starting to creep in thinking I will be flying out this Thursday for the 14 hours ChampCar endurance race at Road Atlanta.

You can follow our team's progress on the live stream Saturday, look for a grey Honda Civic FG2 with the team name Twoth Autosport, that’s us ??

The Track

Road Atlanta is a beautiful track, it has those big elevation changes and some scary downhill high-speed corners like the SSes (picture below) or the turns 11/12 that you arrive on completely blind. When it’s scary in the simulator, you know it’ll be even scarier in real life. Slowly building up the speed is going to be key here.

How do I prepare?

When it comes to learning a new track, I always listen to the virtual track walk of Peter Krause and Ross Bentley. Always grab yourself some coffee/tea before you start these videos as these two can talk for hours and hours about a single track. Some info definitely gets lost on me, but they share soooo much great knowledge it’s addictive. I take a ton of notes that I read before jumping on the simulator. It helps me get into the zone, reminds me what to focus on, and set some objectives for each practice session.

This weekend’s goals

My number 1 goal is very unambitious: finishing the race with no damage. Believe it or not, finishing an endurance race that has 100+ cars with drivers of various skill levels is, in itself, a big victory. The other 3 drivers are more experienced, so my other goal is to make sure I take full advantage of that (listen to their advice, check out their onboard video, and compare our telemetry!). Finally, I want to experience driving during the nighttime, so I will call dibs on the night shifts.

?? Wish us luck and stay tuned for the post-race update ??
