P3O foundation exam (Study plan + Exam)

It is not common practice to publish lessons gained after completing the P3O foundation exam. Nonetheless, I choose to publish this essay to encourage those who are interested in pursuing this certification to do so.?

To begin, I must inform everyone that PMI is not the only institute that provides decent credentials; there are many others around, such as AXELOS that can offer prestigious project management certifications.?

Regarding the P3O exam, below is the summary of how I achieved my credential:

1) Study plan:?

• The whole journey took me 3-4 weeks due to my busy work schedule.?
• I read the standard for P3O - Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices one time.?
• I registered myself into the course and question banks of Eng.Mohamed Gouda.?
• I attempted all the question banks 3-4 times until I gained enough confidence to attempt the real exam.
• I scheduled 2-3 sessions with Eng.Ryadh AlMallak who supported me big time.?

2) Exam experience:?

• The exam was not challenging for me; I largely relied on my real-world project management expertise and how I used to respond to PMI questions.
• For the time being, the exam can be taken online, but only with very strict proctoring.
• The exam consists of 75 questions, all of which are restricted by the Axelos standard; unlike PMI exams, there are no situational questions.
• If you decide to remotely attempt the exam, ensure that you have a good and stable internet connection and power supply.?

Finally, but certainly not least, Is it worthwhile to invest time and money in obtaining professional certifications? Absolutely, when they're from institutes like PMI or Axelos. There are certain organizations that offer credentials in exchange for taking a class. These are usually no more significant than the reward found inside a Cracker Jack box. Axelos or PMI, on the other hand, is quite particular about ensuring that the applicant has a sufficient amount of experience.
