The Oyster Billion Project from Photographer Sarah Flotard
Early this month food photographer Sarah Flotard flew to NY to document the Annual Oyster Social for the Billion Oyster Project. The Billion Oyster Project's mission is to restore oyster reefs to New York Harbor through public education initiatives. The festival kicked off with warm weather and an intimate oyster and wine tasting event.
Dotted throughout the tastings were discussions on oyster wine pairings, oyster’s role in the ecology and history of New York. "This was an enthusiastic event," says Sarah. "These people give our PNW Oyster enthusiasts something to strive for."
From Seattle, Sarah Flotard is no stranger to seafood of all kinds and has a whole body of "seafood images," including a facinating story about Geoduck Farming for Norweigan Airlines in her portfolio.
"You cannot be a food shooter in Seattle and not be a seafood lover," says Sarah. "I love seafood season, it's the kick off to summer when people get so excited at the first sign of long nights, barbeques and cool cocktails."
