There is a sensor that can measure oxygen in red blood cells with infrared light. The device that's able to do background readings and measure red blood cells in about 15 seconds, is available online and not expensive,

Blood oxygen levels have been a critical aspect of monitoring COVID-19. The device also indicates heart and lung health which can be useful for monitoring asthma and heart problems. Some of the devices will measuring VO2 as well.

VO2 is an very good indicator of cardiovascular health.

One of the scientific goals of the device is to study the effects of COVID-19 and other health problems on the respiratory system. The University of California at Irvine and the University of Toronto in Canada are the partners in this study and a total new measurement approach.
