HTN Now: panel discussions in November and December 2024

The last two months of 2024 are shaping up to be busy at HTN – here’s what we’ve got coming up through our live event series, HTN Now .

19 November, 10am: digital workforce education and training

For this panel we will be joined by Dr Hatim Abdulhussein, national clinical lead for AI and digital workforce at NHS England; Geoff Petrie, digital training manager at Leeds Teaching Hospitals; and David Holland, deputy CCIO for AHP’s, Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

19 November, 11am: early preparation for implementation and avoiding the pitfalls

Tara Athanasiou, (director advisory & strategic practice) and?Nick Robertson (director, training & change) from Ideal Health explore the importance of baselining your current position on clinical system, data and infrastructure maturity to inform your EPR implementation and benefits realisation strategies; and outline how the HIMSS EMRAM, INFRAM and AMAM maturity models can provide targeted roadmaps to ensure a smooth EPR implementation that delivers tangible value.

19 November, 2pm: connecting universities and health tech

Here, we’ll hear from academics in the health tech space as they share their research into key topics and discuss what findings could mean for healthcare. We welcome Verónica Blanco Gutiérrez, NHS Clinical Entrepreneur and LEAP Skills & Knowledge Programme Associate at the University of Bristol;?Andrew Bateman, Professor in Rehabilitation, Interdisciplinary Research and Practice Divisional Lead at the School of Health and Social Care, University of Essex; Professor Robin Williams, Director at the Institute for the Study of Science, Technology and Innovation, the University of Edinburgh; and Kathrin Cresswell, Professor of Digital Innovations in Health and Care, University of Edinburgh.

20 November, 11am: putting Lord Darzi’s report into action – a digital focus to drive change

Panellists discuss where the focus needs to lie in order to realise the ambitions highlighted in the report, and to address the challenges noted, asking: how can we realise the full potential of tech? We will be joined by Tamara Everington, CMO, Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Lee Rickles – CIO, Director & Deputy SIRO, Humber Teaching Hospitals; and Kira Levy – Head of Healthcare, AWS; and Tracy McClelland – Chief Clinical Information Officer, Dedalus.

21 November, 11am: digitising mental health trusts for improved patient care

For this panel we’ll hear experiences into digitising patient records at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, including how challenges were tackled and how the trust ensured compliance with data protection standards.

27 November, 12pm: managing EHR complexity

This session discusses the difficulties and complexities of running an EHR or similar systems in a complex environment, exploring the unique performance challenges hospital trusts face when managing EHR systems and highlighting why EHRs are particularly complex compared to other enterprise applications.

4 December, 10am: health tech and innovation for the future?

Dr Penny Kechagioglou, chief clinical information officer and deputy chief medical officer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, James Driver, digital innovation manager at BOB ICB and Daniel Johnston, associate CNIO for Imprivata, join HTN to discuss innovation for the future.

5 December, 10am: utilising data to transform primary care

Here, panellists discuss how general practice, PCNs, ICBs can utilise data and leverage technology to support operational efficiencies and improvements across primary care. We welcome Dr Shanker Vijayadeva, GP lead and digital transformation for the London region at NHS England; Bex Cottey, business manager for Conisbrough GPs; and Derrick Measham, X-on Health.

11 December, 10am: what does it mean to be a leader of digital change?

For this panel, we are joined by Sally Mole, senior digital programme manager – digital portfolio delivery team at The Dudley Group, Julia Lake, associate director for digital (data), Leeds Teaching Hospitals and Dr Penny Kechagioglou, chief clinical information officer and deputy chief medical officer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

11 December, 2pm: Cyber Assessment Framework roundtable?

The Cyber Assessment Framework has provided valuable guidance for enhancing cybersecurity across NHS Trusts. This focus group aims to delve deeper into the CAF’s impact.
