Generally considered to be the best Rec2Rec agency in the western world.
Without wanting to be too cliche, the last month has been such a fucking rollercoaster.
I'm not even excusing my French.
We've had the equivalent of Australia's GDP drop out in fees, with pretty much all of them being unavoidable or unforeseeable (and to those two sycophants who comment on best practice on every post like this; no we could not have done anything to prevent them - we deal with human beings, things change, acceptance is the only way to deal with it).
It isn't just resigned to us though - we speak to consultants every single day who have people dropping out because they're in multiple simultaneous processes and have just gone to the highest bidder. Now look, I get it, cozzy living crisis n all that, but I think people tend to think about their personal top line, rather than factoring in everything else, that contributes to a bottom line living situation. Any form of commute is adding increasingly more £££'s to monthly outgoings. Higher bases are being offset against worse comms schemes, which as all the best consultants know, is where the majority of your crust will come from.
On the other hand, we've had a lot of new briefs in on new roles - which is obviously good for us, but also means its (probably) good for you - as agency owners are bullish about 2025.
Which by god they need to be as 2024 was as shite as Mrs Brown's boys for 95% of the industry.
The sectors we're seeing most growth in are; Finance, Legal, Energy and Specialist tech. This is reflected in some of the new roles we have taken on the past few weeks.
We're seeing real innovation in the way people are working, using AI in the best ways, rather than just for mindless outreach. We're also seeing a lot of investment in external training and internal L&D. One of my biggest bug bears is when agencies don't back themselves to properly train someone and just want someone who is the complete finished article.
Anyway, enough moaning from this belligerent old fool.
