Owain Doull’s explosive start to his Rio 2016 campaign

Owain Doull’s explosive start to his Rio 2016 campaign

Last year, Buro Four and alinea were delighted to announce a sponsorship agreement with British professional cyclist Owain Doull (currently riding for Team Wiggins). This deal aligns to our organisations, as both are well known within the industry for participating in a number of cycling events and have a large number of staff with a passion for road cycling.

Owain is currently training towards the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, where he hopes to be an integral part of Great Britain’s team pursuit squad. Owain has enjoyed an illustrious track career to date, winning four World Cup gold medals and two European golds for Team GB.

Since we began supporting the Welshman, has gone on to achieve some extraordinary results with an explosive start to his ‘Road to Rio’ campaign.

Owain and the team beat their Great Britain counterparts in a special team pursuit event at Round 5 of the Revolution Service in Manchester.

He picked up Gold for Great Britain at the 2015 European Track Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland, as both the men and the women teams delivered dominant displays in the team pursuit.

As part of Team Wiggins, Owain was one of the stars of the 2015 Aviva Tour of Britain, finishing third overall in the race thanks to a remarkable run of top ten stage finishes. The Welshman was also crowned the Best British Rider and won the Chain Reaction Cycles Points Jersey becoming the first British rider to take the prize since Geraint Thomas in 2011.

Shortly after the Tour of Britain, Owain went on to represent Great Britain at the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond, Virginia where he finished a remarkable fifth in the under-23 individual time-trial.

In between these extraordinary feats of athleticism, we were delighted to be joined by Owain on the Buro Four/alinea Surrey Hills Ride where a number of our client were given the opportunity to catch the last few days of sun and have a chat with the young star. Click here to take a look at some photos from the day.

We are very excited to be supporting such a young talent, as it is something we pride ourselves on doing across the company, and look forward to see him represent Buro Four and alinea as an ambassador in the UK and as he competes across the world over the coming months.

We wish him all the best in achieving his goal of becoming an integral part of Great Britain’s team pursuit squad for the 2016 Olympic Games.
