OVF August Newsletter
The warm muggy days are still with us! I think of this month as the link between summer and fall. The fun of the summer begins to fade and we turn our rhythms toward back to school and other routines. Even if you are no longer a student, it’s important to keep learning and keep up with new concepts. If you are a design professional, you probably do this through CEU events. But there is always more! As a finish material rep, our manufacturers teach us about new product development and technologies, which makes us able to better assist you with product education to help you meet your design goals.
Advancements in Subfloor Renovation: Sch?nox is ?n It!
“New and Improved!” We have all heard that line before. For just about anything you ever purchase there is something new and improved about it, right? But innovation can be game-changing and not just an enhancement of something that already exists. Think of how we communicated in the days before smart phones! This is a concept that applies to products developed by Sch?nox. This company continues to innovate to bring not only new products, but entirely new methods of making subfloors excellent and faster than ever to install.
Ohio Valley Flooring is pleased to represent Sch?nox in our territory. Whatever the issue is for your project’s subfloor, Sch?nox has the answer. Another thing to be admired is the company’s commitment to support and training on these solutions. I have worked in the flooring industry for many years now and I have appreciated my relationships with our manufacturer partners. Especially Clay Criswell , (pictured below!) Regional Business Mgr with HP Sch?nox, and my “Go-to-Guy” for all subfloor questions. Below: our recent interview about Sch?nox Renotex? 3D.
Lori: Hi Clay! Thanks for agreeing to be interviewed for the OVF Commercial Underfoot Newsletter! I’d like for you to help us understand the benefits and uses of Sch?nox Renotex? 3D. I understand that this product is actually designed as an “uncoupled subfloor system”. That’s nothing like we’ve ever heard of! Could you explain why this product was developed?
Clay: We are constantly faced with challenging substrates.?We encounter concrete and wooden substrates that are contaminated with grease, oil, paint or even ASR (alkali-silica reaction). Plywood that is fire rated will not allow direct bonding of material.?Asbestos tiles or adhesive chemicals used in abatement can sometimes create a problem all of its own. When we are talking about remodel projects, the challenge comes when critical substrates are damaged by use through the years. The solution to this is Sch?nox Renotex?3D System.
Lori: We know that the parts of the Renotex? 3D system include sound insulation sheets, RS-50 tape, Sch?nox Renotex?3D reinforcement fabric and AP Rapid Plus hybrid binder self-leveling compound. How are all these components contributing to a faster and better way to subfloor?
?Clay: When you use the Sch?nox Renotex??system, the overall costs are reduced compared to new concrete being poured or new plywood installed.?Installation time is minimized thanks to the rapid dry time of 24 hours verses 4 months for new concrete. The Sch?nox Renotex? 3D System is designed to create a new substrate for new floor covering installations with a need for speed. Sch?nox AP Rapid Plus uses Hybrid ActiveDry Technology which is a rapid-drying self-leveling that offers professional flooring installers the opportunity to build up a true self-leveling, load bearing, porous substrate suitable for new flooring in days rather than months. Combined, the system is strong, versatile, and durable.
Lori: I see so much information on the hpsubfloors website. Sch?nox RENOTEX?3D SYSTEM - HPS North America, Inc. (hpsubfloors.com) Please describe the types of projects you think are best suited to benefit from the Sch?nox Renotex? 3D system.
Clay: Mostly where conditions of the existing substrate will not allow a bonded material then we have the solution. We have several case studies on own website,?www.hpsubfloors.com?. Two of them I would like to point out is the Target in Washington Heights and St. Andrews Episcopal Church.?The Target store was faced with fire-rated plywood.?To remove and replace the plywood would cause the project to go past the completion date and exceed the budget.?Sch?nox Renotex 3D System was the solution.?St. Andrews church was faced with asbestos tile over plywood.?Abatement would mean the entire subfloor including the plywood would have to be replaced.?An uncoupled system was needed and the Sch?nox Renotex 3D System was the solution.

?Installation Success Featuring OVF’s Own 5.0mm Thick LVT Collection: “Perfect 10”.
Let’s see if you identify with this situation...You are grocery shopping and you need a pantry staple. As a smart shopper, you’’ll compare prices for like-to-like items, right? You notice the national brand item costs significantly more compared to the “store brand” which is so much less! And the ingredients are even the same! Wow! That much more money for the name brand? You decide it’s a better value to purchase the store’s brand at a savings as the quality is the same and the end result in the recipe will be equal.
We at OVF enjoy showing-off when it comes to the quality and value we offer. The perfect example is our “Perfect 10” LVT Collection. The “ingredients” are the same as the famous national brand. The structure is the same. The wear layer is the same. The warranty is the same. The colors are even similar. But the price is way friendlier! That’s what it means when working with Ohio Valley Flooring. As a distributor, we have a wide variety of brands and products to offer. We can help you value-engineer your project and still have the best outcome while preserving your design intent. Most colors are well-stocked in our Mason, OH warehouse. Ready to deliver for your fast-paced project!
?We are so pleased to share photos of a recently completed project in Louisville. This is the Lourdes Hall Corridors Renovation. This is an affordable multi-family facility located on Eastern Parkway. Ohio Valley Flooring’s Perfect 10 LVT looks amazing and makes the public areas feel more modern and functional.
?" Because of the residents we serve, we needed a flooring solution that is durable yet has a pleasing aesthetic look to it. This does both. We have many residents that use motorized vehicles, walkers and wheelchairs that need this durable surface to make their commute easier. This is also their residence, so we want to make sure it looks nice when they come into their home.”?
