Overworked & Underpaid - Pricing Your Career Coaching Services
Are you ready? I'm calling you out. As a Career Coach, you teach your clients how to negotiate a salary that's aligned with their value and worth. Why? So they no longer are overworked and underpaid. Am I right? Yep, I know I am. And you're really good at it. BUT YOU DON'T SET OR ASK FOR COACHING RATES THAT ARE ALIGNED WITH YOUR VALUE.
I was chatting with a Career Coach who said they charge $25 an hour for a coaching session. When I asked how much she was able to help her client negotiate for her new job, she said - $30,000. $30,000 MORE IN SALARY! First off, that's badass! Great job!
Now, let's put two and two together. Career Coach charges $25 an hour for an every-other-week, 3-month coaching program. 6 coaching sessions x $25 an hour = $150 in total revenue generated. While the Client successfully negotiates for $30,000 more. The math isn't mathing here...
You, my friend, are being overworked and underpaid. The exact purpose of why you're a coach helping your job seeker clients and the reason why you left your corporate job to start your coaching business. You are doing such a disserve because you're not pricing your coaching services based on the value ROI that you can help your clients achieve. So what is Value ROI and how do you figure that out for pricing your services:

Your ideal client, who has the urgency, the commitment, and the capacity (financially, mentally, and spiritually), will be absolutely willing to put in an upfront deposit of $7,500 to gain $30,000 year over year in her new, ideal career. So if you're not tracking KPIs, start now. Time to review those life-changing metrics and reflect them in your pricing.
