It was a typical Tuesday morning. I had my coffee in one hand and my laptop in the other as I rushed to get ready for work. As usual, an endless list of deadlines looming over me needed to be met by the end of the day. My calendar was full with meetings, tasks, and projects that were all equally important but seemingly impossible to complete on time.
I felt like I could never catch up no matter how hard I worked; everything kept piling up faster than ever before. It felt like my entire life revolved around meeting these demands from others and making sure their needs were prioritized above all else - even if it meant sacrificing my own health, wellbeing, and family time along the way.
Finally, after months of struggling with this relentless cycle, I decided enough was enough: something had to change or else burnout would soon take its toll on both myself and those closest to me. So instead of focusing exclusively on everyone else's priorities first, I made a conscious effort to start putting myself at the top of my own list too - whether that meant waking up earlier to get my exercise session on or taking a conference call from a walk versus being on Zoom.
MOVEMENT & ME TIME had to be integrated more into my workweek
Sure enough, within weeks, this slight shift made a huge difference in terms of how productive I became and how energized and fulfilled my days began feeling again! The key here wasn’t necessarily working harder (although sometimes it still required extra effort!)—it simply came down to recognizing where my boundaries should lie while still keeping commitments as best as possible without compromising too much quality either way...and most importantly, putting myself first.
