The Overwhelm is REAL, But Here is How to Pull Through It

Feeling overwhelmed? You’re not alone. As an adult, it’s common to experience stress and feel like there’s too much to do and not enough time. Oh, how I miss childhood! When there was nothing to worry about, no dream chasing, no late-night hustling, everything was done for you and all you needed was an appetite to eat and some friends to play silly with. Sadly, there will never be such times again.

So recently, I found myself?feeling?so?overwhelmed. Like I was really playing catch up with a lot of things, including writing my usual newsletter. The pressure became too much, and I shut down. That’s my primary way of dealing with overwhelm – I just shut everything out, close my eyes on tasks, and schedules, and just play away everything I usually took seriously. At such times, I watch movies and do things I would have considered time-consuming previously.

Feeling overwhelmed? How are you handling it? I seriously will like to read from you in the comment section.

But if you're struggling to handle all the things that are making you feel overwhelmed, here's how I handle overwhelm all the time and always manage to come back stronger and better.

Tip 1: Take a Break

When you’re overwhelmed, the best thing you can do for yourself is to take a break. It’s okay to shut down for a bit, to take some time away from everything that’s causing you to stress. Watch a movie, go for a walk, or spend some time with your loved ones. Just do something that makes you feel relaxed and takes your mind off the pressure.

Tip 2: Prioritize

One of the reasons you may feel overwhelmed is that you’re trying to do too many things at once. To avoid this, prioritize your tasks. Make a list of everything you need to do, then arrange them in order of importance. Focus on the most critical tasks first, and tackle them one by one.

Tip 3: Learn to Say No

Sometimes, you may feel overwhelmed because you’re taking on too much. If you’re someone who has a hard time saying no, it’s time to learn.?It’s okay to decline some requests or delegate tasks to someone else. Saying no doesn’t mean you’re weak; it means you’re prioritizing your mental health and well-being.

Tip 4: Break Tasks into Smaller Parts

Breaking tasks into smaller parts can help you feel less overwhelmed. Instead of focusing on the entire task, break it down into smaller, more manageable parts. Tackle each part one by one until you complete the entire task.

Tip 5: Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a great way to deal with overwhelm. It involves being present in the moment, and paying attention to your thoughts and feelings without judgment. You can practice mindfulness through meditation, deep breathing, or simply taking a few moments to focus on your senses.

In the end, managing overwhelm is all about finding what works for you. Whether it’s taking a break, breaking tasks into smaller parts, or practicing mindfulness, there are many strategies you can use to manage your stress. But perhaps the most important thing is to be kind to yourself. Remember that feeling overwhelmed is not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign that you’re human and that you care about the things you do.

So take a deep breath, prioritize your well-being, and trust that you have what it takes to overcome any challenge that comes your way. By doing so, you’ll not only feel less overwhelmed but also more empowered and confident to tackle whatever life throws your way.

Can I also add that I am sincerely rooting for you? We are all in this together.
