You might have already heard about our MSc in Manufacturing Leadership in partnership with Lancaster University, but do you know all the key details? The structure, benefits for the individual and company, and the prerequisites you need to apply. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about our MSc.
Programme Structure
Our MSc is part-time over two years, taught through a combination of online delivered core learning, workshops, and action learning sets. Following this is a further nine months to complete your dissertation, which can be research based on a real problem or an issue faced by your own company.
There are six modules ranging from leadership to innovation, each led by senior academics or industrialists. Every module contains four workshops and three facilitated action learning sets, with the support of a team passionate about manufacturing and advocates for organisational excellence.
It was set up with one goal in mind, to create high-calibre manufacturing leaders in businesses of all sizes, allowing them to champion enterprise and produce wealth. You will be equipped with the expertise to develop a world-class manufacturing business, so it’s no surprise that 70% of past delegates have moved into higher-level positions.
Individual Benefits
Our MSc offers benefits to both the student and the company. Flexibility is key – you don’t have to spend much time away from your job. You can work and learn simultaneously, managing your own time and working at your own pace.
You will be armed with the leadership skills necessary to create a global competitive advantage. Putting ideas into action, establishing effective communication, and assessing problems, all while studying managerial processes and methodologies. In addition, you will acquire the critical management finesse to propel the innovation process and discover successful procedures for new product development.
Not only that, but you will also have the rare chance of becoming part of an international community of manufacturing leaders – imparting best practices and ideas.
Company Benefits
We also see companies receiving a host of benefits from placing a team member on an influential programme delivered by key industry players. You will be interacting with over 30 global thinking consultancies, bringing that knowledge back to your company.
You’ll also develop a multi-disciplinary approach to manufacturing enterprise management, building wealth in the process. This is in addition to the execution of seven in-house business improvement projects. These new leadership skills will lead to great financial gains for your company, introducing new ideas, approaches, tools, and techniques.
Ultimately, enrolling on this MSc is a great way for a company to advance its future leaders.

Still need some encouragement? Here are some positive words from previous students:
“It’s completely changed my view on leadership and how I present myself to others, from being almost one dimensional to enabling me to present appropriate leadership styles to different situations. I’ve also really enjoyed building up a professional relationship with everyone else on the course across a wide spectrum of industries.” – Gavin Thatcher, Managing Director at Stead McAlpin
“Looking at how external forces can affect a business was fascinating and world-class manufacturing really came home to me – especially as Ecolab is on a transformational journey towards achieving world-class standards. I have been able to take every module I’ve studied back to the workplace.” – Amanda Perry, Plant Manager at Ecolab
