OVERVIEW OF NIGERIAN STOCKBROKING AND INVESTMENT REGULATIONS
The Nigerian capital market comprises institutions that are involved in the issuance of and trading in stocks, shares and other financial assets (collectively known as securities) as well as individual investors. While many entities in Nigeria are very active in this market, there appears to be a general lack of awareness (not only amongst investors but also amongst some capital market operators and professionals) of some of the salient rules and regulations governing activities in this area.
The regulatory apparatus governing the Nigerian stock market consists of both statutes and statutory regulatory bodies.
