Canada's challenges around supply chains and what they mean for inflation and the economy will continue throughout 2022. Tight labour markets and persistent shortages in many occupations, truck drivers, continue to plague our industry, economists, and policymakers. Despite efforts to ease inflationary pressure by raising the central bank interest rate, the temperature in the labour market remains high, especially in the trucking and logistics industries, due to demand the movement of goods to the market is counterbalanced by efforts to avoid an increased price. As 2023 begins, Trucking HR Canada is moving forward with several programs that help alleviate labour market challenges in our industry.
The estimated labour shortages in delivery and courier service drivers have a demand of 115,345 and the actual supply is 112,300 with a real need of 3,045.?The lousy news About that is a weak industry and a lack of service capacity.?The good news is the capacity to support the unemployment rate and the push to the economy in terms of adding more income as the shortage is filled.?
