Overtime - your opinion ??
Good Morning and good day everyone!!
This article is not for publishing my thoughts, but to get idea about what you are thinking.
I saw this pic taking rounds on LinkedIn, and totally believe in it. Family is equally, rather more important than work. Job definitely supports our family so is of uttermost importance, and I don't say that job is done only for money... I love my job and that's why I do it... Can't imagine myself sitting at home, doing nothing... I'll probably be a couch potato with no energy... The work keep me busy during the day time and is like a gym for me, which makes me energized and even more active when I see my kid and family after work.. and it definitely makes the vacation even more worthy... And trust me, I am not saying that people who don't work, are not happy or anything, it just that we should hopefully be doing what we enjoy doing!
But here,my point is not about working vs. not working, but about working overtime or not... I believe sometimes overtime is unavoidable, but everyday would make it a habit... Overdose of medicine is also dangerous and so is overwork... I have worked mainly in Japan, where there is/ used to be a strong culture of overtime. Thankfully the companies I have experienced are all more focused on the output rather than the input of hours. And the candidates I meet, always ask me, we have heard your company says overtime is not necessary, and we can leave but is it really OK? does it not affect my evaluation? And why others, I raised this question in my evaluation meeting, and the good thing is that after the answer I was more confident of leaving on time!
I believe, work never finishes, so we have to make a deadline, after which we don't work even if the work is not done (This does not apply to urgent and special circumstances though) , what is your take on it, and what is the take of your company on it... wish I knew how to add a poll to the article but anyways, awaiting replies!!!

8 年I think, I do not "work" with my computers but I keep playing with my computers. And hence whenever I get free time, I sit down with my computers, even at home. I refrain from playing only when my wife or children shouts at me for playing. So for me its a "fun", rather than "working". And surely I look for opportunity to play.
