Overcoming Supply Chain Challenges

Overcoming Supply Chain Challenges

Nearly every industry has been impacted by supply chain disruptions since the start of the pandemic. Perhaps with the exception of the paper and infant formula shortages, the automotive industry has received more than its fair share of attention and criticism when it comes to the supply chain. We spoke with IAC’s Chief Supply Chain Officer, Kelly Bysouth on how the global supplier managed and what pivots were necessary.

“At first, we managed through a lot of blocking and tackling,” said Bysouth. “There was no prescribed playbook for what occurred over the past two years. I’m incredibly proud of how the team at IAC has worked collaboratively to address the challenges and minimize the overall impact to our customers.”

The initial effort towards resolving tactical issues such as part shortages, material price inflation and working capital management was necessary to continue delivering for customers. But at the same time, the company tried to maintain a level of strategic focus to keep moving the business forward and get ahead of what might be the next challenge.?

Bysouth noted that the recent publicity related to supply chain constraints has increased the overall visibility of the profession.?

“The attention the profession has received has driven more young talent to pursue supply chain management disciplines as a career path. It’s exciting to see what the future will hold as industries put more focus on effective supply chain practices that give this talent pool the keys to create value for their organizations.”
