Overcoming Self-Doubt: You’ve Got This!

Let’s talk about something real for a minute: self-doubt. Whether you’ve been at the top of your game for years or you’re just starting out, that little voice in your head can pop up and whisper, “Are you sure you can do this?

Sound familiar?

You’re not alone. In fact, I recently ran a poll asking if self-doubt is something you struggle with, and 76% of you said yes.

That’s huge!

It shows just how common this feeling is.

But here’s the thing: just because it’s common doesn’t mean it has to have power over you.

I’ve been there too.

As much as I love what I do and as confident as I may seem, I’ve had my moments of second-guessing myself.

We all do.

But over time, I’ve learned how to navigate through it. That’s what I want to share with you today, because if you’re someone who battles self-doubt, you need to know: you’re not stuck, and you are more capable than you think.

The Hidden Truth About Self-Doubt

Here’s what they don’t tell you: self-doubt is actually a sign of growth.

Yep, you read that right.

If you weren’t pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, doubt wouldn’t even show up. The fact that you’re experiencing it means you’re on the edge of doing something new, something bigger, something that matters.

So instead of seeing it as a barrier, I want you to start seeing self-doubt as a signal.

It’s a signal that you’re stepping into new territory, and that’s where the magic happens.

But how do we keep self-doubt from holding us back?

How to RISE Above Self-Doubt

Whenever doubt starts creeping in, I want you to remember this acronym: RISE.

These four steps have helped me—and countless others—move past those paralyzing feelings and step confidently into action.

  • Recognize the doubt: Don’t ignore it or try to push it away. It’s important to face it head-on. Ask yourself, What exactly am I doubting right now? Be specific. Is it your skills, your experience, or something else? Once you identify it, you can begin to work through it.
  • Identify your strengths: Now that you’ve acknowledged your doubt, it’s time to counter it with truth. What are your strengths? What do people come to you for, time and time again? Make a list of wins—big and small—that prove you can do this. When doubt rears its head, refer back to this list and remind yourself of what you’ve already accomplished.
  • Step into action: One of the biggest reasons self-doubt lingers is because we overthink and underact. Confidence comes from taking action, even when you’re unsure. What’s one small step you can take today that moves you toward your goal? Just one. The more you take action, the more your confidence grows.
  • Enlist support: You don’t have to fight this battle alone. Self-doubt thrives in isolation. Share what you’re going through with someone you trust—a coach, mentor, or friend. They can offer an outside perspective, support, and help you see the truth when doubt clouds your vision. I always say, “You can’t see the label when you’re inside the jar.”

Remember This

Here’s the truth: Self-doubt will always try to pop up when you’re stepping into something bigger.

But it doesn’t define you, and it definitely doesn’t have to derail you.

You have something valuable to offer, and the world is waiting for what only you can bring.

Every time you overcome self-doubt, you strengthen your resolve and expand your capacity for even greater things.

One of my favorite quotes is: “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” So, what if we stopped letting doubt dictate our decisions? What if we stepped out anyway, knowing that we’re more than capable?

I promise you, on the other side of that doubt is the success, impact, and fulfillment you’ve been working toward.
