Dear LinkedIn Friends,
As the Easter holiday weekend ends in the UK, many people return to work with mixed feelings. For those who had the break, I hope you had a lovely and relaxing time, and I understand that returning to work can be daunting for some of you. But rest assured, knowing it's not uncommon to experience anxiety about returning to work.
Recently, I spoke to a friend who's a schoolteacher, and she doesn't have to return to work until next week, but she was already stressing about the workload after the holidays. She wanted some tips on coping. The great thing is that you can do some simple things to ease the transition and get back into work mode. I decided to share some of them here in this newsletter.
First, take some time to reflect on your time off. What did you enjoy most about your break? What were the highlights? Perhaps it was spending quality time with loved ones, exploring a new place, or simply having time to unwind and relax. By reflecting on the positive aspects of your time off, you can carry those feelings of happiness and contentment into your workday.
Another helpful tip is to ease back into your work routine gradually. Don't tackle everything at once. Instead, start with the most pressing tasks and progressively work through your to-do list. This will help you feel more in control and reduce the sense of overwhelm that can come with returning to work after a break.
It's also essential to take care of yourself during this time. Returning to work after a break can be stressful, so making time for self-care is essential. This could mean taking a walk on your lunch break, practising mindfulness or meditation, or doing something you enjoy in the evening, like reading or watching your favourite TV show. By prioritising self-care, you can help reduce anxiety and stress, making adjusting to your work routine easier.
Communication is another vital aspect of returning to work after a break. Talk to your colleagues or manager about how you feel, especially if you're anxious or overwhelmed. They may offer support or advice or simply lend an ear to listen. It's essential to remember that you're not alone in feeling this way. Your colleagues and manager are there to help.

It's also essential to remember that the first day back at work is often the hardest. But, it will become easier once you get back into the swing of things. So, be patient with yourself and take things one step at a time.
Finally, try to maintain a positive attitude. Returning to work after a break can be difficult, but it's also an opportunity to start fresh and tackle new challenges. So instead of focusing on the negative aspects of returning to work, try to embrace the positive aspects. For example, you may have a new project or are excited to meet colleagues and clients. Focusing on the positive can help shift your mindset and reduce anxiety.
Returning to work after a break can seem like a burden, but it's also an opportunity to start fresh each day. Remember, the first day back is often the hardest, but it will get easier. So take things one step at a time and be patient with yourself.
I hope these tips help you return to work mode easily and effortlessly after a holiday or long weekend.
Have a great work day!
