Overcoming My Fear of Sales: My Journey to Becoming the Greatest Salesman

Overcoming My Fear of Sales: My Journey to Becoming the Greatest Salesman

For a long time, I was afraid of sales. The very thought of it filled me with anxiety. I had a mental block, believing that I wouldn't be able to sell my products effectively. I thought I needed someone else to do it for me.

My fear grew when I saw how educated and polished others were. People from prestigious institutions like IIMs, IITs, and Harvard, with their polished sales techniques and jargon, made me feel inadequate. They talked about body language, sales funnels, and customer psychology, using terms that often went over my head. This always made me very self-conscious.

However, as I continued to grow my construction business and expand into interior design with Wudless, I realized something important. Sales isn't just about fancy words or sophisticated techniques. It’s about having a good product, telling a compelling story, and being genuine.

Here’s what I learned along the way:

  1. Quality Product: First and foremost, having a product that you believe in is crucial. If you know your product is good and can genuinely solve people's problems, half the battle is won.
  2. Storytelling: People love stories. Sharing the story behind your product, how it came to be, and why it’s special can create a strong emotional connection with your audience.
  3. Genuineness: Being yourself and showing your true personality goes a long way. People can tell when you’re being genuine, and it builds trust.
  4. Confidence: Believing in yourself and your product is vital. Confidence can be more persuasive than any sales pitch.
  5. Problem Solving: At the end of the day, people want solutions to their problems. If you can offer them a solution at the right price point, they will listen, agree, and want to do business with you.
  6. Right Price Point: Pricing your product correctly is crucial. It’s important to understand your market and set a price that reflects the value of your product while being at the right price point for your customers. The right price makes your offer irresistible.

With these principles, I started to approach sales differently. I stopped worrying about sophisticated techniques and focused on these core values. Slowly but surely, my fear of sales diminished. I began to feel confident in my ability to sell.

Now, I feel like I’m the greatest salesman in the world. Not because I use fancy jargon or have a prestigious degree, but because I believe in my products, tell my story, and genuinely care about solving people’s problems at the right price point.

So, if you’re struggling with sales, remember this: you don’t need to be a sales expert. Focus on having a great product, be genuine, tell your story with confidence, offer solutions, and set the right price point. That’s the true essence of sales.

Good points, well structured. all these 6 strategies should bring a buyer to our door. A sale because of its Quality, Service, and price brings back another sale
