In my quest to explore avenues of opportunity that the use of hardware and its practical application can offer for industry, my main field of action, I have discovered that staff development and the reduction of the learning curve are fundamental to enhance their creativity. In this context, immersive technologies emerge as a vast universe of possibilities, promising to radically transform the way we interact with our work environment. The transition to more immersive, hands-free augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) interfaces presents significant challenges, such as interface and user experience limitations, hardware adoption, integration with existing systems, and user training and acceptance. However, effective implementation of AR/VR in industrial environments harbors considerable potential to improve worker efficiency, safety, and capability. This article delves into potential solutions and highlights the importance of developing intuitive interfaces, industrial application-specific hardware, customized solutions, and training and awareness programs.
