Overcoming Business Disruption

Overcoming Business Disruption

Risk & Security Management (RS) understands that the key to a successful, long-term business is not just the ability to deliver quality services and retain clients, but also the ability to withstand the unexpected. Whilst COVID-19 has been at the forefront of our minds for a significant period of time we also need to consider other events that have had impacts on many businesses including cyber-attacks, storms, and most recently the flood emergencies in parts of QLD & NSW.?

Failure to plan could be disastrous for any business. At best, you risk losing clients whilst you’re getting your business back on its feet. A clear, comprehensive Business Continuity Plan (BCP) gives businesses the best chance of overcoming a business disaster as it outlines a roadmap and processes that support the business and its strategy in times of the unexpected.

RS maintains an effective BCP that covers immediate recovery processes following an adverse event, through to the subsequent resumption to normal operations. This allows us to react quickly and efficiently in the case of unpredictable events. We are committed to continuous improvement and conduct regular testing of our BCP processes in an exercise environment. This is to ensure lessons are learned and changes implemented where required to ensure that our BCP remains robust and that our services can continue as much as possible during an incident affecting operational performance.

During the recent flood emergency in Brisbane, when access to our head office was denied due to flooding in and around the area, our BCP was enacted. As a result of this our team were able to swiftly mitigate the impact of business disruption and we were able to continue to operate as close to normal as possible.

In addition to the recent flood emergency, RS has been no stranger to enacting its BCP across all our office locations particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. These real-life business interruptions have allowed us to enact, review and improve our BCP to ensure we continue to provide our services in a timely and professional manner irrespective of the environment around us.
