Overcoming Adversity: A Journey of Resilience, Motherhood, and Triumph

At Asticom, we take pride in celebrating the incredible moms who are part of our family. This week, we are honored to introduce Fledelyn Tapaya-Sable, an example of resilience, leadership, and maternal love. Fledelyn's journey with Asticom began in May 2015. As a single, career-driven, and healthy woman, she quickly made her mark. However, life took a dramatic turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2019. Choosing to prioritize her health and her unborn child, she resigned to undergo treatment and prepare for motherhood. Her story took a hopeful turn in August 2021 when she rejoined Asticom, this time as a team leader, a wife, a mom, and a cancer survivor.

Fledelyn has been a mother for four years and has one daughter. She wears multiple hats with pride and resilience. By profession, Fledelyn is a team leader, bringing leadership skills to the table and tackling challenges with determination and creativity. But her journey is about much more than just her career. “I'm also a proud cancer survivor, a battle that has shaped me in profound ways.” Fledelyn shares. “Overcoming this adversity has instilled in me a deep appreciation for life's precious moments and an unyielding strength to face whatever comes my way. As a working mom and a cancer survivor, I've learned the art of balancing responsibilities with faith and courage. Every day is a testament to the power of resilience and the beauty of second chances."

One of Fledelyn's best memories is from a family trip, her daughter's first plane ride. Reflecting on her own first flight experience, Fledelyn prepared for the possibility of motion sickness, and true to her intuition, her daughter did get sick during the landing. Fortunately, Fledelyn's preparedness saved the day, turning a potentially messy situation into a memorable and humorous experience. She loves spending quality time with her daughter at the beach, pool, playground, or picnics in the park. Traveling to new places together is a cherished tradition.

Motherhood has shifted Fledelyn's perspective, deepening her understanding of unconditional love and appreciation for life's small moments. Balancing work and family responsibilities without household help has been a challenge. She and her husband work in a hybrid setup, coordinating schedules to ensure someone is always available for their daughter. Fledelyn emphasizes the importance of setting boundaries and seeking support to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Fledelyn hopes her daughter will remember the importance of prayer, kindness, and generosity. She believes that showing unconditional love and support will create a strong foundation for her daughter's emotional well-being. Parenthood has honed her time management skills, resilience, and ability to balance multiple demands, empowering her professional growth at Asticom. She draws parallels between her leadership role at work and her role as a mother, where she serves as a mentor and guide, inspiring her team to reach their full potential.
