Nic, as his peers and colleagues fondly call him, started his career in one of the biggest beverage companies in the Philippines, San Miguel Corporation. A graduate of De La Salle University for college and further pursuing a program on Human Resources Management at the University of Michigan, Nic was hands-on and in the front line navigating and leading his team to sustain the growth and momentum the company was pushing for, despite the commonplace labor challenges in the country during that time. He was spotted and head hunted as the Director of Human Resources for Kraft Foods International Southeast Asia where he continued to pursue cutting edge HR development policies thus enabling creative and innovative people solutions to ensure continuous success in Kraft Foods.

In 2004, he joined JG Summit Holdings, Inc., as the Senior Vice President of the Corporate Resources Group. In this role, he was responsible for leading three people groups that oversaw the entire JG Summit conglomerate, which comprised over 100 companies worldwide with a headcount of more than 100,000. Actively involved at the board level, he worked closely with the CEO to grow and continuously diversify the Gokongwei Group. In 2021, he became Senior Advisor for Corporate Human Resources of JG Summit Holdings, constantly providing guidance and advice to Human Resource teams.

Due to his relentless work ethic and innovative perspectives in human resource management, Nic was awarded the People Management Association of the Philippines’ (PMAP) People Manager of the Year in 2007. The award highlighted his work as a critical stakeholder in fostering the growth of JG Summit Holdings, distinguishing himself through his work and advancing innovative practices that are valuable to the success of organizations. And in 2011, he was awarded the PMAP’s Diploma in People Management, the highest honor in the practice of human resource management in the world.

Nic is also passionate about sharing his knowledge with other industry leaders.? Recognized as a thought leader in human resources, he participates in events aimed to innovatively develop human resources. Recently Nic was a panelist for the 10th HR Leaders Asia.
