I procrastinate too. I do. I might not do as much as I used to but still, I procrastinate.
I’m not sure about you, but often things become a bigger challenge in my head than they actually are in reality. There are those big things too, that I put off, until it becomes a real issue. I do however have a strategy.
As a business coach, I have seen first-hand how procrastination can be a major barrier to success for entrepreneurs. In this week's newsletter, I want to share with you some strategies for overcoming this all-too-common challenge and help you become more productive, focused, and successful.
Are you tired of always putting things off until tomorrow? Do you find yourself spending countless hours on non-essential tasks, only to be left feeling stressed and overwhelmed?
If you do, it's time to take control of your procrastination and turn it into a powerful tool for success.
Before we dive in, let's define procrastination.?
Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing tasks, often due to feelings of anxiety, fear, or lack of motivation.?
While it may seem harmless, it can quickly spiral out of control, causing missed deadlines, lost opportunities, and decreased productivity. As an entrepreneur, you can’t afford to miss opportunities.?
You need a strategy.
Did you know that the Buffalo is the only animal that we know of that turns to face a storm when it approaches?
Then as the storm nears, the Buffalo will charge into the storm because it knows, that by doing this, it will get through the storm much faster than the alternative.
Out in Colorado where the Buffalo still roam wild, the cows have a different strategy. The cows have to endure the exact same storms but they turn the opposite direction and try to outrun the storm. Cows aren't as fast as storms, so by doing this they end up running WITH the storm and are in it for longer, causing more pain and suffering.
We all face storms in life and business. Some small, some large. What are the storms that you’re facing, large or small? We procrastinate over tackling these challenges and we hold ourselves back, from fun, worry free nights and growing our businesses.
How can you overcome procrastination and be more Buffalo? Here’s how I breakdown my BUFFALO strategy. I find that having an approach, a strategy really helps me to get more done, avoid procrastination and feel better.
Build the right inner circle.?

Understand - ask more questions
Face the challenge - take action today
Financials - you need to know your numbers?
Attitude - positive attitude helps you to see the possibilities
Leadership - attract the right people and clients.?
Opportunity - when luck meets preparation
Doing nothing is a strategy that’s not going to help your business. Facing the challenge and putting a plan in place is key. Who in your inner circle can help you?
Is there anything else that you need to know in order to tackle the challenge? Who can you ask for advice?
Face up to the challenge and take positive action today. Momentum starts by taking action. Whatever it is, no matter how small it all helps when you get started.
Many challenges have financial implications, what do you need to know, where does it sit in terms of importance or long term impact?
Having a positive mindset makes a huge difference. With a positive outlook it’s much easier to look for solutions. If you’re struggling with this, get up and walk around, sit somewhere else for a different perspective. Imagine that you’re someone else and think about what they might do.
Become the leader you want to be, acting as if we are that leader, can be huge when faced with challenges outside our comfort zone. When we start to lead others will follow. We attract more of the right people into our lives.
And finally opportunity, facing up to our challenges, creates space for new opportunities. You know the feeling that decluttering has on your mind and your wellbeing, getting rid of the things we’ve been procrastinating over has the same effect.

2 年I love this article, and now I love Buffalo's too! They are also in my mind often the only animal that faces a predator rather than just running (maybe because they're not very fast at running away from it)?!?!? I'm definitely more Buffalo when it comes to the latter and now I'm totally up for being more Buffalo with regards to procrastination!

2 年I am absolutely more buffalo than I used to be - still a work in progress but it is absolutely true that it's easier and less stressful in the long run! Great article Jamie Stewart

2 年Interesting sharing. I love your analogy of using the buffalo vs the cow. It really hone in of confronting vs running away, and in reality we don’t outrun our issues or challenges. It’s the facing it and how to face. Thank you for such a lovely share
