Back in 2019, I was handed a project. I was tasked with the initiative to revive it.
The morale was low and the resources were drained.
However, in the next 6 months, the project picked up and became one of the most successful initiatives.
What did I do? How did I turn the odds in my favor? What can you learn from this?
I will answer these questions in today's edition of Good Luck and Good Health.
Let's start at the start.
The corporate world is very fast-paced.
Things are not needed at the end of the day, or today itself.
Things were needed yesterday.
At such a fast pace, you are bound to lose your confidence and belief in yourself.
No matter how much you lose your faith in it, you can't let others know about it.
Your confidence and belief shape your journey.
But how exactly do they shape our journey? And are they truly enough to overcome significant obstacles?
This article explores the tangible impact of confidence and belief.
I will illustrate this through my personal experience.
I will also take the help of mythology, to show its transformative power.
My Personal Experience:
As I told you at the start, I was leading a project that was dead on arrival.
You could say the odds were quite literally, stacked against me.
The pressure was severe and doubt loomed over the team.
Everybody saw the project and me as being someone not fit for the task.
But I had something with me, that no one saw.
A strong belief.
A strong belief in:
-- The Collective Skills of the team
-- The strategy that I had created
-- The ability to turn this situation around
But my mental belief wasn't enough.
The confidence I had was inside me. It was to be circulated among everyone.
" First conceive it in your mind. Second, believe in your heart to achieve it. Only then you can achieve it."
With the strategic thinking covered, I had to show immense confidence.
Not only mentally but physically too.
I integrated a small change to my posture.
Consciously I began standing upright, with my shoulders in the back.
This coupled with my strong mental beliefs, helped the team to not get demoralized any further.
Even when the outcome was uncertain, I stayed true to my dedication towards displaying confidence.
Slowly, the team began to mirror this energy.
It was almost like a ripple effect.

Productivity increased, and innovative solutions emerged.
What started as a daunting challenge eventually transformed into one of our most successful initiatives.
Life lessons from Mythology:
This powerful intersection of confidence and belief also finds its roots in mythology.
Take the story of Hanuman from Hindu mythology as an example.
When Hanuman was tasked with leaping across the ocean to find Sita, even he hesitated.
The distance was vast, and despite his strength, Hanuman doubted his ability to achieve the feat.
It was only when Jambavant, reminded him of his divine strength and origins that Hanuman regained his confidence.
He stood tall, and with his belief reignited, he leaped.
He overcame the obstacle and proved his strength and loyalty.
But what if Jambavant hadn’t reminded him? Would Hanuman’s hesitation have held him back?
The reminder was crucial undoubtedly.
It wasn’t just about confidence.
It was also about believing in your inherent capabilities.
In the corporate world, our challenges may not be as dramatic as leaping across an ocean.
But the principle remains.
When faced with overwhelming tasks, it’s about summoning our strengths, much like Hanuman, and taking that leap of faith.
It’s a reminder that confidence alone might not be enough.
Belief must also be present to fuel the action.
A Practical Approach for Success.
The lesson here is both simple and profound:
Merge confidence and belief.
Stand tall. Literally and metaphorically. And believe in your abilities.
These two elements create a feedback loop where one strengthens the other, propelling you toward success.
Here’s how to put this into practice daily:
But can confidence and belief alone truly bring transformation in every scenario?
In my experience, and only when combined and consistently reinforced, they can create a powerful force that elevates performance and fuels success.
ENDING NOTES:
Confidence and belief aren’t just abstract concepts.
They are practical strategies that, when applied thoughtfully and mindfully,
can elevate your performance in any corporate setting.
Much like Hanuman’s leap, these principles guide us through challenges.
Reminding us that our potential is far greater than we often believe.
