Raise your hand if you’ve ever dreamed big, and the thought of setting goals to make that dream happen didn’t even enter your mind because you thought somehow it would just happen “one day.”
I did this a LOT when I was young, and then I’d wonder why I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. Disappointment doesn’t even begin to cover what I felt.
If you’re like me, you have dreams for your business, side hustle, work as a freelancer or your career, and you’re working hard in this online space to make them come true. But you have to plan for success, it doesn’t just happen because we want or need it to.?
Building a brand, learning how to write content that connects with people and mastering new AI tools takes discipline, commitment, consistency and a solid strategy.
A strategy is nothing more than a plan with a deadline. Your plan is your goals broken down into action steps that move you toward the completion of a well-defined objective.?
Take a moment to reflect on how you’re getting work done. Do you scramble to write and post content every week, or do you have a system that works??

I don’t hear too many people saying this, but when you’re first starting to build an online presence, it takes time to create a content strategy that works for you. In the beginning, it’s all about trying things out and finding out if people like it or not. But it’s easy to get overwhelmed and stuck. Many people who are doing the work on their own never really move past this point.?

A great way to get unstuck is to create a basic content plan and test it out.?
Sit down and decide what topics you want to cover for the next 30 days, then map out the types of content you want to create about them on a content calendar (Use Google Sheets—it’s free!).?
Include blog posts, reels, social media posts, YouTube videos and any other kinds of content you want to post. Map out each day of the week, and if you have time, include a rough outline or first draft of the captions for your social media posts (this will save you time later).?
Following this process will show you how much bandwidth you have for content creation. If you start feeling overwhelmed as you add more posts to the calendar, ask yourself why and sit with the answer.?
If your goal is to post five days a week, you may need to cut back to two or three until you can free up the time you need to create content that hits your goal.?
At the end of the 30 days, assess your content to see which posts and forms of content did best. You’ll want to post more of that! And just like that, you have the beginnings of a content strategy tailor-made for your brand.
