Fast forward from a year ago today, we are working with some of the world's most renowned educational institutions. Originally launched as a tutoring management platform sold strictly to Higher Ed tutoring centers... is now a robust, holistic, campus wide and scalable student services platform.
How did we get here and why did we go in this direction?
After some time and experience under our belt in working with higher ed, we came to realize the main areas in which we solve challenges for. And those are:
1. Connect
No matter what service, students need to easily connect with their school's services. Students today use mobile devices including laptops to seamlessly connect with their most frequently used apps... higher ed also needs to offer this ease of use because usage is driven bu UX. If the school's service UX sucks, then students will not use it.
2. Communicate
Yes that's right. Communication is the heart of us human beings; our need to socialize! Students and staff need to be able to easily communicate with each other, plain and simple.
3. Collaborate
This is the next and deeper layer of communication. Students, faculty, and staff need to often collaborate on certain projects or documents/files. For example, someone in financial aid needs to communicate and collaborate with students on the various documents and paper work they need to provide. All of this back and forth can be simplified through a simple online workflow, allowing both parties the convenience to trade information without necessarily being on campus. Another example would be with a tutor and student allowing both sides to conduct their tutoring session online with subject specific whiteboards (see screenshot above).
4. Consolidate
Consolidate comes in two flavors. The first one is consolidating all services through one easy access point. "Hey students, want to access your school's services, no problem, they are all listed here!
The second is more on the administrative side; consolidating the various operations of those services for easier workflow, management, and scalability.
To summarize, we started with tutoring centers, then expanded to Academic Support, then expanded connecting students and staff with all services campus wide. Each evolution resulting is our ability to solve challenges related to any of the '4 C's above.
