If you’re like many overthinkers and highly analytical people, your engrained default setting for living is to stay in your head and try to use your brain as your resource for everything, including things for which it isn’t intended to be used.
?
Your brain operates as a powerful computer, much like your own personal human operating system. It serves two important primary purposes. On the unconscious level, it is keeping your physical body running and you alive. It also acts as an information storehouse in relation to what you experience in life as well as what you consume and feed your mind.
?
Essentially, your brain is the control center for your body and an information processor and repository. While it is useful for logic and reasoning based on what is already stored within, your brain is not some magical google-like place you go to search for new information. Doing so is about as pointless as shopping for a brand new car at an antique car lot.

A Scientific Case for NOT Relying Solely on Your Brain and Traditional Intellect
When Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientific minds of all time, wanted to problem solve or come up with new solutions and discoveries, he didn’t go looking for answers or try to figure things out in his analytical mind. Quite the opposite in fact. Einstein regularly quieted and disconnected from his logical brain. To facilitate this, he took music breaks and actively engaged in visualizing, daydreaming, and connecting to his intuition.
?
By doing so, he opened himself up to a wealth fresh perspectives, new possibilities and major discoveries that would have otherwise likely remained hidden.
??
“I never came upon any of my discoveries through the process of rational thinking.” -Albert Einstein
?
Another thing that set Einstein apart from people who live solely in their head was how he used all of the fertile new information, ah-ha moments, and novel solutions to then take swift action in applying that newfound goodness into real life …rather than sitting on it, pondering, or over-analyzing it to death.
?
The dude fully employed all of his faculties, wielded his intuition like a master, and took consistent and aligned action to realize his ideas, theories, visions, and dreams into physical reality.
You can do the same provided you stop sitting on the proverbial front porch watching the traffic and your life pass you by while you are stuck in the self-sabotaging pattern of over-analyzing.
?
Know that the answers, solutions, joy, and rich abundance that life has to offer are not found inside of your brain.
?
To support you on the path to breaking free from the life-sucking behavior of overthinking and living up in your head at the exclusion of your actual life and the results that you seek, below we’re delving into why you are overly analytical and what you can do to change this disempowering pattern.
Why You’re More Comfortable Living in Your Head + the Major Risks
There are a couple of fairly common reasons I see with clients that may help explain why you are prone to overthinking, trapped in the pattern of analysis paralysis, or going through the motions of living like a disembodied brain including:
1.??? Being overly analytical is a distraction from taking action in life. It’s an unhealthy coping mechanism that keeps you stuck and playing small rather than vigorously pursuing your goals and dreams with intention. This often shows up as perfectionism, procrastination, rumination, fear of failure, or fear of rejection. There is no fire or passion in the self-sabotaging pattern of over-analysis, just excuses, a false sense of control ...plus a huge risk of experiencing a life of mediocrity.

2.??? Living up in your head is a self-protection mechanism to avoid feeling. When you are overly analytical, you habituate as well as limit yourself to mere logic and intellect. This unhealthy pattern makes it so much easier not to feel things in your body or your heart that you are trying to avoid. While it may seem safer living this way, doing so robs you of joy, pleasure, and the incredible wisdom of your body, gut/intuition, and your heart.
?
What to Do to Break Free from Being Overly Analytical
Here is what I recommend to clients that will help set yourself free from this pattern:
1.??? Identify and resolve the unique root cause(s) of your self-sabotaging pattern of overthinking. Once you understand specifically why you engage in this unhealthy behavior you can begin to rewire you subconscious mind to support healthier and more empowered outcomes. Doing so is super important to your well-being and your ability to achieve your goals and create the results you most desire in your life.
?
2.??? Monitor for and take note of situations and circumstances that activate your tendency to over-analyze. Equip yourself in advance with actions that you can take in the moment whenever you notice overly analytical behavior starting to crop up. Nip it in the bud by practicing deep breathing exercises and intentionally connecting to your heart, engaging in physical activity to reconnect to your body, or doing something creative to quiet your purely logical and overthinking mind. ?
?
3.??? Take breaks throughout your day, especially from your professional work, to go for a walk, play music, engage in creative passions, meditate, visualize, daydream, or do things that otherwise shift you out of your analytical mind. Doing so opens the pathway for fresh perspectives, new ideas, big breakthroughs, novel solutions, innovation, and even incredible discoveries to emerge. On a subconscious level, it also trains you to seek out and honor the wisdom of your heart, body and intuition.
?
4.??? Stop overthinking your goals and start DOING. Over-analyzing is never the pathway to victory. Consistent and aligned action is the only way to create the actual results that you desire in your life.

Bringing It All Together
There are a variety of reasons why you are prone to the self-sabotaging pattern of being overly analytical, none of which are healthy for you or good for the quality of your life. The answers, solutions, creativity, innovation, and joy that you seek will NOT be found inside your brain or via overthinking. While counter-intuitive, those things come from elsewhere. Your true inner wisdom, intuition, imagination, passion, and fire reside in your heart, body and gut.
?
By regularly tapping into and using all of your human faculties and senses, and not just your brain and traditional intellect, you open yourself up to expansive new possibilities and previously unforeseen solutions. Not only that, you connect yourself to your desired outcomes emotionally through your heart and physically through your body and your gut. All of which is far more powerful and directly supportive of your goals and dreams in life versus existing constantly up in your head and overthinking while your actual life sadly passes you by.
?
The question now is: Are you ready to finally stop being overly analytical and start using all of your internal resources to create the kind of results you most want in business, career, relationships, and life? If so, reach out to me for support in resolving your unhealthy pattern of over-analyzing.
Wishing you infinite abundance and freedom from overthinking,
