Did you know for over 1700 years (0001 AD - 1700 AD) India was the richest country in the world!!! Friends look at the following graph, for over 1700 years India was the richest country, while China was at second spot and USA was the most poorest country in the world with GDP's less than 1%.
Why did India become poor? The answer lies in the graph, while India's fortunes dropped and during the same period West Europe's and America's fortunes raised. British systematically took out all our richness in 150 years of invasion. The point is not about the invasion or to bombard USA or Britain, the point is how did India flourish at #1 spot for more than 1700 years? During those periods most Indian's led a sustainable life, which means most of the produce were self produced or within villages. Entrepreneurs flourished in every villages (black smith, gold smith, barbers, pot makers etc..), they consumed what they produced and only the excess was sold in the market. Money always flowed from cities to villages, the villages were rich and hence our country was rich for more than 1700 years. We need to understand this basic common sense, these days money flow has been reversed from villages to cities and villages have become poor and hence our country.
We have always been taught on how poor India was, but were never told on the richness of our country which prevailed for over 1700 years. Share this post so that we all understand the rich heritage of our country. Jai India!!!
