Ovation Hollywood Arch Illumination: A Dazzling Transformation of an Iconic Landmark

In the heart of Los Angeles, where the glitz and glamour of Hollywood converge, lies a historic landmark that has witnessed the evolution of an entire entertainment industry. Hollywood & Highland, once a beacon of cinematic allure, had lost its luster over time. However, real estate investment firm DJM Capital Partners joined with architecture firm Gensler and lighting designers from TM Light to breathe new life into the iconic space, allowing it to retake center stage.

The archway leading into the vibrant lifestyle center is at the forefront of this transformation, weaving dining, retail, and entertainment experiences together. The challenge was significant: honoring Hollywood's legacy while infusing a fresh modern aesthetic. The carefully curated lighting design, shaped by the insights of the entire team, plays a major role in the project’s success.

After considering various lighting solutions, Q-Tran's VERS-GRAZER (04) was selected to illuminate the decorative overlapping angles on the arch’s fa?ade due to its compact size, effective glare control, and the available optics ranging from 12° to 36°. Kristy Benner of Wiedenbach Brown, the company in charge of procuring all the lighting for the project, elaborated, “The entire team collectively agreed on this direction due to the effectiveness of the louvers and the precise control offered by the fixtures themselves.”

3000K LEDs in 5 watts per foot were selected, highlighting the fa?ade of the structure and creating a cinematic ambiance that complements the luxury atmosphere of Ovation Hollywood. The landmark has already offered Hollywood a striking focal point for high-profile events hosted there, such as the 2023 Academy Awards and many red-carpet movie premieres.
