Outward Bound Challenge

Outward Bound Challenge

Last month our Learning and Development team took a group of Bell apprentices to the Outward Bound Trust in the Lake District for a week of outdoor activity.

The Learning and Development team worked with the trainers at the Outward Bound Trust to develop an exciting and engaging curriculum for the week that would really stretch the apprentices, support their personal development and put team building at the heart of the programme. Apprentices were issued with a learning journal structured around our Key Beliefs, which enabled them to capture their personal learning journey over the course of the week and this will be included in their portfolio to support the completion of apprenticeship programme.

A wide range of transferrable skills were developed during the week including team building, resilience, decision making, problem solving and for some, newfound leadership skills. Amongst the challenging activities undertaken during the week, there was an overnight expedition to Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England standing at 3209ft high, wild camping at the foot of the mountain, gorge walking and raft building.

A fantastic and memorable experience for everyone involved.

Seeing such dedicated support from Bell management and the enthusiasm coming from your apprentices, the outlook for Bell early careers is very bright indeed, and The Outward Bound Trust are happy to play our part. Here’s to another successful programme in 2024.
