The Outsider's Perspective: Innovating Healthcare by Leveraging Cross-Industry Insights

Today, I was asked an interesting question: "Being an outsider to the healthcare industry, having spent most of my time in banking and fintech, how do I understand the problems faced by physicians and their staff?" This made me reflect on my past experiences. When I started at a bank in India with a background in Chemistry and no knowledge of credit or debit, I quickly learned. Working in various countries and cultures taught me to view and reflect on things differently.

In any industry, whether #healthcare or #banking, there are customers, service providers, and products, with underlying processes often being similar. Some industries may be more disruptive and innovative, but having an open mindset to compare and learn is crucial. Some believe solving one problem at a time is the best way to disrupt the market. I strongly believe that isn't enough. There are multiple smaller problems to resolve, and it's important not to be so specialized that you only address part of a bigger issue.

#Healthcare and #MedTech need #convergence. It may sound repetitive, but without convergence in #EMR #EHR companies, there's a risk of stagnation, similar to how #Nokia faltered in the 2000s when they stopped innovating and converging.

In conclusion, it's important to learn quickly to resolve problems. One does not need to be an insider to address an industry issue. I strongly feel that the best solutions come from people who can step back and view the problem from the outside rather than getting stuck in the day-to-day routine.

Weren't We All Asked to Think Outside the Box While Solving Problems?
