Outside the Tower - Oral Tradition

Architecture claims itself as one of the oldest professions. No, not because we like to give things away, but because when it came to the beginning, we needed shelter to survive.
The primitive hut, as we archi-nerds call it, is the first story we learn as students. This story, and those from Vitruvius, Corbusier, Hadid, et al., inform our design lens.
After graduation, we learn habits, good and bad, as passed down from our mentors. This reliance on word-of-mouth education has created what we often refer to as "The Ivory Tower."
Over the next few weeks, I'm going to dig up some content to challenge our norms. This "Outside the Tower" series will focus on sharing what the outside world can do to help our practice make perfect.
Whether you're a new architect, veteran practitioner, or starting out, welcome. If there's something you want to learn more about, share that too. I look forward to sharing some new ideas from "Outside the Tower."
